End of Summer Fun

Summer is winding down, but we are still having lots of fun! Collin is all over the place these days, he's got the army crawl down pretty good and is slowly working on crawling up on all fours. These are some recent pics of Collin's summer.

Brown County Fair

Maurice and I first attended the fair Thursday evening with my dad. We walked around a bit, ate some food and took in all the sights. Then we headed to the mainstage to see sweaty Uncle Teddy. Ted Nugent played and he put on a pretty crazy show. He's certainly got a lot of "spirit"! After the show we sat down and ate 2 whole pizzas and 2 orders of hot wings. And a fried candy bar. All very great for the figure...
We are officially on vacation now for the next week! Friday morning we got up early (Collin got up early I should say), so we headed right back over to the fair. We were so excited for Collin to see the animals. The pigs were oinking for him, which kind of scared him at first, but then he wanted to dive right in. He also had no problem with putting his fingers in the chicken cages. For the most part, he wasn't as excited as we imagined him to be... He did think the big fans in the barns were cool of course and we passed a vacuum cleaner which was pretty fascinating for him! After the animals we sat down and had some lunch and then headed home. Everything at the fair is really reasonable pricewise. We were expecting to pay outrageous prices for everything like at most events, but it was only $2.50 for beer, $1.50 for water, $3 for a burger, etc. Thursday night we even brought our own beer because we were expecting to pay at least 5 bucks a beer. And the fee at the gate was all inclusive, it covered parking, entrance fee, rides, concerts... Hopefully Brown Cty will keep it up and make the fair a little bigger every year!

8 Months Old!

Collin turned 8 months old on Sunday! He was not feeling very well for about a week, but as of this weekend he's definately back to his happy, goofy self! He's such a character, all you have to do is look at him and he grins. We have so much fun with him! His toys have overtaken our living room like I always said I wouldn't allow... It's amazing to watch him learning new things every day- he's figuring out how a lot of his toys actually work.
Collin still eats everything we offer him. He feeds himself really well and we usually try and give him most of the table foods we are eating along with his baby food. It's become an evening routine for Collin and I to have Collin sit in his high chair and we chat while I cook dinner and then we eat together. He always makes a huge mess, but at least he keeps everything on his tray (for now). One evening he particularly enjoyed some refried beans I offered him!
Collin spends 3 days a week at home with dad and then when Maurice goes to work Grandma Rita comes over until I get home from work. He spends his other 2 days at daycare with his friends. He gets the best of both worlds this way! He's now one of the oldest babies in his class at daycare, it's crazy how fast the time is going!
Collin is an extremely happy kid. Unless he's not feeling well (which is very rare) he really only gets fussy when he's tired. He wakes up with a smile on his face and goes to bed smiling and laughing. He's super laid back and will go with the flow no matter what we are doing. Whenever he starts to get a bit fussy all we have to do is take him outside and he chills right out!
This month he has mastered Patty Cake and can wave bye bye, though he usually won't do it when it counts. His teachers are working on sign language with him at daycare but I haven't seen him use any yet. He's starting to get up on his hands and knees and tries to pull himself up on some of his toys. It's very exciting, but sad at the same time... He's growing so fast!
